- I recently purchased a 4 MB SIMM32 module for my GVP G-Force
- 68030-40mhz accelerator. This is being used in an A2000 with the
- following config.:
-
- - GVP EGS Spectrum
- - IVS Trumpcard Pro SCSI controller
- - Quantum 52 and 340 meg HD's (connected to the Trumpcard)
- - SupraRAM 2000 w/ 2 megs 16-bit fast RAM
- - GVP G-Force 68030-40 accel. w/ 4 megs 32-bit fast RAM (before
- adding SIMM module)
- - 1 meg chip RAM
- - WB 3.1
- - CGFX 2.16 for the Spectrum
-
-
- It seems that when I added the SIMM module and configured the
- G-Force to place all of its 32-bit RAM into extended space (jumper J12)
- beyond the A2000's autoconfig space, my machine refuses to boot. All I
- get is a black screen. I don't even see the animated requester asking
- you to insert a WB disk.
-
- If I go back and close jumper J12, which tells the accelerator to
- place its mem in autoconfig space, I can boot from a WB disk. However, I
- cannot access any of my HD's, nor can I boot from them. The mem meter in
- the WB title bar shows I have 1 meg chip/8 megs fast free. Thus, the
- SIMM module seems to be OK. The Spectrum refuses to work (probably
- because it needs 2 megs of auto config space).
-
- If I go back and pull out the SIMM and leave jumper J12 closed,
- all is well.
-
- Does anyone know what is causing this problem with extended
- memory on the G-Force? Is it some kind conflict between the G-Force
- and the IVS SCSI controller or Spectrum? Is there a solution?
